Chevrolet revealed new Chevrolet Miray concept car

Chevrolet one of division of General Motors revealed the new Chevrolet Miray concept car at 2011 Seoul Motor Show. The word Miray means 'future' in Korean language.

The Chevrolet Miray concept car is produced with carbon fiber and Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic the wedged body side is separated by angled character line with ambient lighting. The car features dual port grille, aluminum carbon fiber composite 20 inch wheels on front and 21inch wheels on rear.

The Mi-ray car interior features melange of brushed aluminum, natural leather, white fabric and liquid metal surfaces, center touch screen, centrally located start button, retractable rearview cameras which change conventional rearview mirrors and extend from side glass electrically.

Singapore’s Chalkboard goes after Malaysian market

After close to five months of testing in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore-based mobile advertising platform Chalkboard is ready to roll out more aggressively in Malaysia, said its co-founder and CTO, Dr Bernard Leong. He was up in Malaysia’s capital city on March 29 to present Chalkboard to local retailers, digital marketers and branding agencies in Solaris Dutamas, Kuala Lumpur.

Chalkboard is a mobile and web advertising platform that helps businesses increase walk-in traffic by broadcasting promotions to consumers who are within a predetermined radius of about 1km.

Currently, Chalkboard has about 1,000 outlets in Malaysia signed up to the service, with most of them based in the urban areas of the Klang Valley. To further boost the initial uptake of Chalkboard, Leong said that Malaysia-based Alliance Bank had agreed to list its 600 nationwide branches on Chalkboard. The branches would be included into the service in phases, starting with those in Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh, and Port Dickson.

According to Ronnie Lim, head of consumer banking of Alliance Bank in an interview with Marketing Interactive, signing on to the service would enable the bank to let customers know about lifestyle deals offered by the bank’s merchants, including daily deals, dining promotions and installment payment plans.

Chalkboard is planning to work with local mall outlets and retail centres, similar in the way it partnered up with Joo Chiat complex in Singapore, to increase its numbers. To date, it has the co-operation of Publika, an up-and-coming development in Solaris Dutamas with 335,000 sq ft of retail space, and Jaya One, a retail and office complex located in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

As for the type of clients Chalkboard expects to draw, Leong said that it’s likely to follow a 80-20 pattern as it is in Singapore, where 80% of clients signed on are chain or big-brand retailers, with the remaining 20% comprising small-to-medium sized retailers.

(Clarification: In regards to the 80-20 rule, Leong was referring to estimates rather than confirmed data, which would help determine how the company approaches a new market, specifically in Malaysia and not anywhere else.)

It is Leong’s hope, however, that Chalkboard would increase the numbers in the latter category.

“Chalkboard’s main goal is actually to help the small and medium retailers. Our clients in Singapore are pretty big and that helps us get our name out, but we also want to help the small ones – that’s been the mission and ethos on the company from the start,” he said.

For Malaysian clients, the service carries two pricing tiers: RM540 (USD178) per outlet for 18 months, or RM450 (USD148) per outlet for 12 months. There is a negotiated discount for larger chain-store businesses.

Leong added that Chalkboard’s functionality in Malaysia will be tweaked to cater for population and geographical differences.

“In Singapore, the population density is higher, so we’ve set a one kilometer radius [around any listed merchant, in which promotions show up on phones], but in KL it’s more sparse, so we have some geographical constraints to think and adapt to,” he said.

Currently there are no plans to establish a permanent sales or support office in Malaysia, and Chalkboard will continue to service clients in the Asia-Pacific region from Singapore.

“We’ve got a strong reseller in Maxlink up here, and they’re doing a good job,” he said.

Maxlink is Chalkboard’s authorized partner in Malaysia, whose task is to help sell Chalkboard to local businesses.

Update: Leong said that while they are not setting up a support or sales office in Malaysia, Chalkboard has started operations on the ground with a sales head.

He also said that there are some people planning to get a trip for this wedding. I believe him but I wonder why. To just being nosy I guess...who knows. 

Anyway, I am very curious if Kate is having a bridal shower. If they do have how royal bride to be celebrated it. Does she will also be giving away of the bridal shower invitations for this occasion, does she gonna have a wild party? I just curious.

I'm not a fan of Ed Hardy merchandise its too hip for me though I love animal print on tees, dress or bags but the kind of Ed Hardy designs have are not my cup of tea. But I would still buy it only for gifting to somebody I know who loves this kind of stuff.  I pretty sure my MIL would love these earrings and ring- that skulls are definitely she enjoys to wear.  She had a few of Ed Hardy tees but not this ed hardy jewelry collections I'm sure she would loves to own someday. Now that Mother's Day is coming soon I now know what to buy for my MIL's gift.

Sequoia Scores While Kleiner Fumbles in China

What’s up with Kleiner Perkins in China? While Sequoia Capital China continues to score one IPO after another on NASDAQ and the NYSE, Kleiner struggles in China.
Just this week, Sequoia saw the listing of Beijing portfolio company Qihoo 360 Technology, its ninth IPO of a Chinese company since July 2010.
How about Kleiner? Sure, the firm has seen listings on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, but there aren’t any high-profile IPOs in the states for several years. Yes, Kleiner counts such trophies as Baidu, Alibaba, Focus Media and Hurray, but that’s going back to 2005. AND, these deals were under the watch of TDF Capital, which formed an alliance in 2007 with Kleiner to set up KPCB China.
The same story goes for acquisitions or portfolio companies. Portfolio company CGen was sold for $168 million to Focus Media, but that deal dates back to late 2007. And last year, portfolio company United Automobile Association was sold but that was to Legend Holdings, whose venture firm Legend Capital had earlier invested in UAA.
Meanwhile, partners have continued to defect from the Kleiner team in China.

Thia Megia - one of her best performance

Last night's American Idol the remaining contestants were singing Elton John songs. I was excited to watch them cause I'm a fan of Elton John's music. I'm telling you, I wont ever get tired nor never will be of listening his classic songs. I have all of his best records in my iPod, that's how sick I am. Hehehe So last night I was with my friends had dinner in her house while watching the AI show. We actually rooting for Thia Megia, we're following her since she's one of us (Filipino). I can tell that she's a typical Pinoy very reserve, shy, but full of talents. She's indeed has a good voice quality, a voice that we would love to hear when we try to relax. So calming sounds like a bird. Beautiful. I love her piece last night singing her version of DANIEL by EJ. love it. Period.

You have no idea how many times I keep playing this video of her from last night challenged. I lost counts. :)

2011 Kia Naimo Concept

Making its world premiere at the 2011 Seoul Motor Show, the Naimo electric concept car combines Korean heritage with innovative modern features.



Taking its name from the Korean word "Ne-mo", (pronounced 'Neh-mo', meaning 'square shape'), the Ne-mo electric crossover utility vehicle (CUV) was conceived by Kia's international design team in Seoul, and is characterised principally by its simple lines and solid, muscular stance.



The simple overall design is accentuated by a number of striking key details, such as the wrap-around windscreen and asymmetric sunroof, and the front and rear dot-style LED head- and positioning-lamps. This mix of simple and complex is a common trait of many traditional Korean arts and crafts.



Kia's design team also made use of innovative technology to give the car a premium feel and to ensure the car's exterior remained uncluttered. For example, Kia Ne-mo has no traditional wiper blade on the windscreen - instead it employs a high-intensity air jet at the base of the windscreen that performs an 'air wiper' function. Conventional door mirrors have also been replaced with miniature cameras installed in the A-pillars.



Naimo's interior was designed to evoke a strong sense of tranquility and features hand-crafted materials throughout. Korean oak is used to trim the interior door panels and the entire interior floor, Korean "Han-ji" paper is used for the head lining. Alongside these traditional elements sit modern features such as a transparent organic light emitting diode display instrument panel and full connectivity.



"Naimo is a perfect balance of innovation, high-tech and Korean tradition. It was heavily inspired by the purity and grace of traditional Korean arts and crafts, but combines this with cutting edge technologies to deliver a truly premium experience," commented Kia Motors' Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer.

The third electric vehicle design to be unveiled by Kia Motors Corporation in a year, the 3.9-metre long Naimo concept explores the practicalities of introducing a zero-emissions, five-door, four-seater city car into a future niche market.



Measuring 3,890 mm in length, the Kia Naimo's generous wheelbase, width and height (2,647, 1,844 and 1,589 mm respectively) - plus the short overhangs which place a wheel at each corner - ensure that the cabin provides exceptional head, leg and shoulder room for the occupants.



The concept car has no B-pillars and features rear-hinged rear doors to maximise easy access to the cabin, and a three-way split opening boot-lid, allows versatile access to the load bay for varying luggage sizes.

Power comes from a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with a maximum output of 80 kW (109 ps) and maximum torque of 280 Nm, enabling Kia cc to reach a top speed of 150 kph (93 mph).



A twin-pack 27 kWh battery is located under the boot floor and uses innovative Lithium Ion Polymer technology that offers numerous advantages over other battery types. Equipped with this battery, Kia Naimo provides a driving range of 200 km (124 miles) on a single charge. To enhance range, the showcar is fitted with special low-drag 20-inch diameter alloy wheels.



Under the quick recharging cycle (50 kW) the Naimo's battery can be recharged to 80 percent of its capacity within 25 minutes. Under the normal cycle (3.3 kW), 100 percent power is attained after five and a half hours.



Naimo will join Kia's growing test fleet of hybrid, electric and fuel-cell vehicles being extensively driven in widely varying conditions to develop future production models with zero or significantly reduced emissions.
