My grandson and I went on a trip to Ellis Island to the see the Statue of Liberty yesterday. It was a great day for it, too. We took the subway down to Battery Park and caught a ferry that went out to the island.
On the way there, we sat next to a man named Steve who was also bringing his grandson out, and we struck up a conversation. He was from Alabama, and he was telling me how he had wanted to take his grandson out that way for a while. We both agreed that the statue was an important thing for every American citizen to witness. While Steve was a nice guy to talk to, though, I think he had a little trouble hearing me. He mentioned how he had to remember search for hearing test Auburn when he got back to Alabama. I told Steve not to worry about it, and told him that I’d just picked up some new hearing aids last week. I think that made him feel a little better.
When we got to the island itself, it was quite extraordinary. I hope it’s something that he remembers for years to come.
