Direct from Las Vegas, it’s CES 2011!

The new year brings forth January and with January comes CES, the largest gadget and technology show on the planet. This year e27 is on deck in Las Vegas to check out the event and we’ll be bringing you news and interviews with a number of companies at the show.

We may not be a gadget blog but there’s enough technologies on show there to cover every walks of life, some of which would surely be on your list. We’re keen to see what Skype is going to announce this week as well as the wave of Android devices that will be introduced as iPad “killers.”

The mobile space is hot and everyone wants to be in it. Someone recently described this phenomenon as similar to the video game console rush of the 70s and 80s. Just about every tech company on the planet thinks it can make a buck and be the leader in that space but in the end, even the once mighty Atari fell to Nintendo. A couple of decades later we saw Nintendo’s dominance wrecked by Sony and Microsoft. All four companies were never in the console space but they out innovated each other over the years.

Often it’s not so much about the gadgets or devices, but the platforms they run on. Which ones will developers flock to? Who will win end users’ hard earned cash? Will there be one dominant mobile platform or will it be big enough for everyone?

Who could forget Steve Ballmer’s introduction of the vaporware that was the HP Slate last year? Looks like those guys may not necessarily be together this time since HP is prepping a webOS revival.

There’s so much going on at CES, you may want to remember that a not so little company based in Cupertino, California, has an announcement to make in a couple of days. We’ll surely pay attention to that one as well.

Stay tuned, we’ll be coming to you from Las Vegas.
