Railway minister Smt. Mamata Banerjee today has presented Rail Budget 2010 , considering viability of projects and social responsibility. Here are some highlights of Railway budget 2010:
1. As expected, no hike in passenger fair, Cancer patients travel free in AC3, Concession to film industry and press, Children upto 18 yrs travel free.
2. 10 more Duronto, Bharat Tirth to connect Himachal to Kanya Kumari and double-decker trains on pilot basis.
3. MoU will be signed with health and HRD Ministry, 101 secondary hospitals, and multi functional hospitals with AIIMS and Vellore to be set up soon.
4. Security : Mahila bahini for security of women to be introduced, twin strategy for safety and security to be introduced.
