RIM to hold developer conference in Bali next month

For software developers out there who see the BlackBerry as a viable platform to be in, RIM will be holding its first ever developer conference outside the US in January. BlackBerry DEVCON Asia will be held on January 13-14 in Nusa Dua, Bali.

With Indonesia being one of the most significant Blackberry markets, and perhaps the most significant outside of North America, it’s only appropriate to hold the event in the country. RIM will be sending a host of its own engineers and show off its latest technologies including the much talked about PlayBook.

Developers will be able to explore the new SDKs for the PlayBook, Messenger SDK, analytics and advertising services, and more. Given RIM’s preference towards web-based applications, it will also hold sessions on web technologies. All in all, there will be 40 sessions conducted over two days.

Keynote speakers include RIM executives Christopher Smith, Mike Kirkup, Greg Wade, Jeff Jackson, and Tyler Lessard, as well as Julian Dolce, platform lead for QNX Software Systems.

Online registration is still open and cost of admission is US$200, not including travel and accommodation.
