Yesterday we reported that 3 ½ hours before the biddings on John Schneider’s (aka Bo Duke) General Lee on ebay ended, that the price had hiked from an ear-buzzing $2,3 million on May 2, to a drop-dead $9,900,001. Well the auction finally closed at whopping $9,900,500! According to a report from CNN, that puts the ’69 Dodge Charger based General Lee just $1.1 million away from the $11 million paid for a 1931 Bugatti Type 41 Royale Sports Coupe sold by the auction house Christie's in 1987, which is the most expensive car ever auctioned up to date. Makes you wonder if one of the General Lee’s fetched in so many millions, what the heck would the original, Ford Lincoln Futura based Batmobile (not the replicas), would sell for if George Barris ever decided to sell it… Link: ebay
