Ford Recalling 3,6 Million Cars Over Defective Cruise Control

For the sixth time since 1999, Ford is recalling 3.6 million passenger cars, trucks, sport utility vehicles and vans built between 1992 and 2004 to repair a cruise control switch that can overheat causing a fire. According to data provided from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, today’s announcement has bought the total number of recalls for the same cruise control switch problem to 10.5 million vehicles since 1999! Ford has announced that it has received no reports of accidents or injuries related to the recall. Owners of the 16 models affected by the recall will receive notices from Ford on August 13. Dealers will install a fused wiring harness into the speed control electrical system or replace the deactivation switch if it’s found to be leaking. -See affected models after the jump
