Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has announced plans to operate three new Westin hotels in India. The new ventures represent Starwood’s aggressive drive to establish itself as one of the most recognizable brands in India. Of the three hotels, the Westin Hyderabad, Mindspace is the largest, with 428 rooms. Situated near the emerging central business district of Cyderabad-Madhapur, the hotel is within easy access of HITEC City, a major IT hub as well as the state-of-the-art Hyderabad International Convention Center (HICC) and HITEX Exhibition Center. The Westin Hyderabad, Mindspace is part of “The Mindspace Cyberabad Project”, a mixed-use development venture with plans for offices and a 700,000 sq-foot mega mall and multiplex.

The other two hotels – The Westin Pune at Koregaon Park in Maharashtra state, and The Westin Kolkata, Rajarhat will also be part of similar mixed-use development projects, comprising hotels, offices, residences and retail outlets. The Westin hotels in Hyderabad and Pune are scheduled to open in 2009, while The Westin Kolkata, Rajarhat, opens in 2010.
