Google Streetview Vs. Traffic In Delhi [Cost goes up!]

I was driving down Greater Kailash area (GK – I, Delhi) last week and got to capture this: A Google Street View car struggling out of the traffic in Delhi. Well, nay, let me rephrase that – struggling through the nuisance of traffic in Delhi.

It is not a far cry to assume that traffic conditions in Delhi are among the worst in the world, and yet believe me or not Delhi does sit on the top of the pyramid w.r.t. traffic technology provisions as compared to other Indian cities. Ain’t that a bitch?

Some infrastructure work during Common Wealth sports did us good, but even now there are billboards, posters and sign boards spread across the city claiming – Commonwealth Sports, 2010 – that potentially confuse the new visitors/tourists coming into the city. Lethargy shines at its best in Delhi, and it will probably take another disastrous reporting by BBC for the sleepies to wake up and clean the mess.

What makes me wonder is how much these traffic woes raise the cost for Google Street View. And say after completion of project – i.e. tracing all the streets in Delhi, what percentage of our screen will show the streets, and what percentage as vehicles? :-)
