Have a crack at developing for Facebook during at its Malaysian Developer Garage

Those in Malaysia wanting to learn more about Facebook’s platform and meet its developers should keep February 26 to 28 free to attend back-to-back events Facebook Developer Garage and Urekaweekend. Organized at the Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT) in Technology Park Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, the two events are a great chance for developers to hone their skills and learn more about the platform.

First up is the Facebook Developer Garage, where developers would take part in “jam sessions” during which working prototypes on Facebook’s platform would be built. There would also be talks about Facebook’s evolution and discussions on technical details, while participants can also find out how to become a Facebook preferred developer partner.

Following that is Urekaweekend, a product development programme where teams with the best prototype would receive a micro-investment of RM2,500 to pursue their Facebook projects.

“Some may think this is a tall order, but we’ve seen it happen again and again in the intense environment of Urekaweekend,” said Hakim Albasrawy, a partner at Tandemic, which is hosting the events.

The Facebook Developer Garage program is one of 30 globally supported by Facebook and Intel in the past year.

The Facebook Developer Garage and Urekaweekend events are free to the public. Those interested can register at http://klfb.urekaweekend.com/register.
