Tamil Nadu State government is planning to unveil Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar’s statue in Bangalore, various Kannada activists have joined hands and have called for ‘Bangalore Bandh’ on August 9.
Various Pro- Kannada organisations including Kannada Chalavali Vatal Paksha, Kannada Sene, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Praveen Shetty group) and Kannada Vedike decided to observe Bangalore and Chamarajanagar Bandh on August 9. Earlier this week, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Narayana Gowda group) had called for the bandh on the same day.
Former MLA Vatal Nagaraj said that none of the Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers had either requested to unveil Thiruvalluvar statue in Bangalore or assured to unveil Sarvagna’s statue in Tamil Nadu.
CM Yeddyurappa has taken a strong step in this regard and there is a serious threat attached to this plan.
