Stew and Jon

Guest written by our friend Trent Horton

It's always adorable when couples try and teach each other how to do something. I decided I was going to try and teach my boyfriend Jon how to cook. He didn't take instructions from me well so we turned on the satellite we got from tvbydirect.com and found a show. I have most of the basic ingredients in my home so we waited until a recipe came up that I was prepared for. It ended up being a delicious bean and rice stew.

Nearly all the ingredients are dry except for the water and the chicken broth. After they are all mixed is forms something that looks like a paste. You cook it for about forty-five minutes and then you add water to your desired consistency. Well I put Jon in charge of adding the water so that turned out to be a hilarious misjudgment on my part. I think he thought we were making a soup instead of stew because he added so much water that we could have drank the stew if the beans didn't get stuck. I showed him how to fix this problem by simply adding more ingredients until the consistency was thicker. Now we have about twice the stew that we wanted and we'll be eating it for three meals a day for the rest of the week. Would anyone like to try a bean and rice stew taco?
