Pinoy Delicacies

My friends back in the Philippines when I see them during my recent trip over there think I never age and never ever change. Ahem.. I'll take that as a compliment but I asked them why would I change? They said how come I didn't gain weight with all those American food I ate and Filipino food I had when I was there. OK, easy guys, I said I eat moderately- a little bit of this and a little bit of that helps me maintain my body weights in fact I don't need to worry to intake more appetite suppressants just to have this weight. Take moderation and control yourself otherwise you'll become "Precious" (you know what I am talking about the overweight teen mom in the movie Precious) gain lots of fats. But they can't still believe how I did that. Alright then, whatevah.

Meanwhile, I asked them to have some Filipino snack foods I in dire to eat for so many years. And we ended up having these pinoy snacks which are rice cakes (different kind of rice cakes), Goldilocks especial polvorons, pastillas, crispy corniks, and among others. I am loving all of them. Sigh because I really miss them now.

FoodTrip: Jollibee

Sorry for the food porn in fact expect more blog post to go about food during my recent trip in the Philippines. Only when I travel that I eat excessive amount of food (fat burner to the rescue) almost everyday and that makes my travel complete! I already decided my first meal in Phils it has to be Jollibee, are you kidding me? I've been waiting for this day to arrive and it finally happened. Jollibee is number one pinoy food chain in the Philippines even little kids knows what's that bee head logo means- spaghetti and chicken joy (with gravy please!). So ordered the famous dish they have. Spaghetti, chicken joy, fries, and mango pie. I felt at home. I'm home!

FoodTrip: Bangus (Milk Fish)

During my recent short vacation in the Philippines I ate but seafood all the time. I told my mother to prepare me local food that I really like. No chicken, pork or beef of my meals I insisted it. I did food tripping when I was there my gosh everything I see that I like I eat! hehehe Good thing is I don't need yet the creatine powder to loss my body fats cause my metabolism are great, I didn't consume all the food I take it goes straight in the toilet! hahaha

When I was in Manila on my last night in the Phils I make sure I have to eat milk fish (bangus) thankfully I found a restaurant in Mall of Asia where they serves good bangus recipes. The restaurant called Bangus (itself) so I went in with my cousin and we ordered the food that we enjoy to eat. It was delish. Its worth the price we paid. No wonder why the restaurant is always pack of people and that makes me wanna go back. Now I know where to dine in next time.

Crispy Calamare fried

Sinigang na Shrimp (sour soup with shrimp)

Sisig bangus

for drinks- I got green mango shake that is soooooo good.

Marinated Bangus (Milkfish)

It has been so many years the last time I had this marinated fried bangus. If I remember I was in the PINAS when my last encountered of it. If I really have to get one of this I can go to a filipino store here in south Florida anytime where they selling bangus since I intend not to pass by that's why I missed it. Except yesterday I was force to go just to buy a balikbayan box. And I saw a hot fried marinated bangus. I was tempted. Although its kind a pricey but I don't care cause I really miss this one.

I immediately dig it in when I came home. Of course I'm eating it with plain white rice. I've been eating a lot of rice lately I think I gain weight, oh, gawd I needed fat burning products desperately! hehe Especially now that there are more birthdays coming up I have attend to. I cringe of fats. :)

Salads and Soups Delight

This is one of those days that my husband and I are have the luxury time to dine out when we feel deserves  to treat our stomach (selves). :) See? We are not really totally cheap nor peculiar we just don't want to get chunks if we do eat out all the time. Once in a while is just fine.  Anyway, yesterday we dined out at our all time favorite restaurant's Souplantation & Sweet Tomatoes, because they serve light fresh salads and soups so delish that vegetarian could swoon. Hehehe But for those carnivorous person this restaurant is not for you. Sorry. Although they serve salad and soup with chicken or beef but that's all you can have just a few amount of meat.  You know that I'm not a vegetarian nor vegan but I love salads and soups so this restaurant rocks my-not-so-picky stomach. I love everything they have in this restaurant. They actually serve buffet meaning we can try everything they have in a long period of time.  And that's what all we did, taking-our-time while enjoying savoring those yummy foods.

My first plate of  tossed and prepared salads; Caesar Salad Asiago, Mandarin Spinach w/caramelized Walnuts, Mandarin Noodles w/ Broccoli.

Second plate; Wonton Chicken happiness, Tuna Tarragon, Fresh herb Thai slaw.

For the soup; I have Asian ginger broth

Lemon Blueberry Tea Cake

When I saw this cake at the bakery section in Whole Foods Market last Saturday I was convinced by the name of it for me to buy a loaf. I like lemon, I like blueberry, and I like tea combining these three major food ingredients is the best idea, whoever made this I think she is genius. It was sooooo good. I ate the whole thing (not at one sitting) for breakfast with hot tea. Yum! Too bad my husband doesn't eat sweet.

5 out of 5 stars for this!

Brocoli Pizza

It's good to have pizza dough, marinara sauce, cheeses and vegetables are stocks in the fridge cause anytime I gets lazy cooking especially now that I am working back again and have some homework in tow to do Pizza is my best friend. So easy to prepare and cook. This Pizza is made of zero cholesterol. We won't feel guilty each bite we take at all because the dough is made of gluten free and no eggs its quite pricey but its worth every penny we spent of it. Also the cheeses I used are non dairy from animals, it is made of rice and soy. We really don't have to worry about of getting weight loss product because it won't gain us more weight. Besides we're eating this pizza once in a while or at least once a week.

Adding broccoli on pizza is something I skeptical about I just don't like the idea ...but my husband's insisted me to put on it after all this is his pizza. Again I was wrong the broccoli pizza isn't bad at all. I surprised. It's yum!

FoodTrip: Yankee Clipper Clam Chowder Soup

If you are dieting or vegetarian or just want some good vegetable salads like me then try to dine-in at Sweet Tomato restaurant. They have very good vegetable/pasta salads, soups, and some pastries (loved their homemade chocolate cookies real big time!) I have tried their different kind of soups so far they didn't disappoint me. Even though I'm not too crazy of broccoli but their broccoli chowder soup is divine. It taste so good. I'm serious. This time I had their Yankee Clipper Clam Chowder Soup- it is so creamy, the flavor of the clam is strong. I like seafood so I don't mind if they put too much clam in it. Overall its good. 3.5 for that!

FoodTrip: Mongolian Beef

Dinning out at our favorite Chinese restaurant (in a cold-windy day) yesterday. After we found a table, we ordered hot tea right away just because we are shivering from the coldness outside. Grrrr..

i love Wanton Soup perfect during winter it brings warm into my body, not to mention it taste good, their broth is just perfect-- 5 stars!!
For my main entree I ordered Mongolian Beef with fried rice of course.. but why oh why their Mongolian Beef taste different from other Chinese restaurants? That I don't understand. Can somebody explain it to me?! :) I was expecting the same Mongolian Beef I always had from the Philippines. We had the best Chinese Mandarin restaurant there. I swear! Those restaurant are always packed with people they never running out of customers even bad time. Ha! But hey, the Mongolian beef I had yesterday is not bad at all, I ate most of it. I gave 3.5 stars for it but I won't order it again.

I've never tasted ever before such chicken wings like they had, it's sooooooooo good. I'm not exaggerating here it just way too good. The chicken wings are crunchy, and the sauce is sweet & spicy, oh my goodness, I'm drooling right now! :)

Gastronomy

This Sweet Potato with plain Yogurt soup made the husband stomach ached. He's not use to with the yogurt food. This will be the first and last to be cook in my kitchen.

FoodTrip: Pasta w/ Chicken and Espresso for drinks

This is my long overdue post about my previous food-trip I had. Me and my husband had dinner at the Cypress Restaurante [and Italian restro] last Fourth of July [an United States, Independence Day] celebration just this month. It was our first food-trip in this restaurant so we expects nothing but the best. Sure why not? Typically Americans went out to the beaches partying or having barbecues at home with their family during those time. Well, for some people just like me and the husband were preferred to dine out in the restaurant to avoid the crowds and cooking, after all it's a rest day. :)
In the restaurant was not a busy mode. I can even count with my fingers the people dine in there. My husband said, 'this is a sign of the crisis'. Ohh, my guy was so silly! In my mind I guess their food are not that good but I'm wrong. I ordered Espresso for my beverage and their specialty Cypress Pasta with Chicken for my food and how can I forget the Pistachio Gelato for my dessert. Too bad I forgot to take a photo of the Gelato.
I'm not really too crazy about coffee though. I tried to avoid caffeine as much as I can, that is why. But if my quirky moods attack me I drink coffee but Espresso. For me no one can bets Cuban Espresso, i love it! How's that? :) Anyway, my usual drinks when I'm in the restaurant are H2O, caffeine free tea, fresh juices or hot chocolate. So at that time I ordered...

Espresso!
Ahh, so strong but Yum.

And
Pasta with chicken, white wine, grape tomatoes, cream, fresh basil and cheeses.
It was good.
I rated 4 out of 5 stars.

FoodTrip: Beef & Chicken Fry with Yakisoba Sauce

I have no choice but need to post this on my blog since Mother's day was already over. The husband and I took out our mothers (mom & grandmama) to the Chinese/Japanese restaurant last Sunday as we celebrated their "Day". I ordered that food (picture attach), was found from their Chef Specialty lists in the menu. The verdict? Was so-so, I'm not loving the food maybe because of the sauce. I will never ever order it again next time. That's for sure. :)
