My dog Stormy is now having a hard time to go up our (15 steps) stairs. Though coming down is not a problem but she sometimes slip off the stairs roll her body down on the floor that cause her injury. She's not young anymore we know that when we gets more older our body decreases so much strength that's what happen to her now. Getting Pet Gates are our option just for her safety.
This is what we did for so long now whenever we're out in the house and left her alone. We put her in the unclosed rooms upstairs but with the kind of barriers we had or else it really bothers her when we put her inside a room with the door closed.
Since those barriers we had are not safe enough I guess a gate something like this one is a lot better.
