2009 Infiniti EX35

2009 Infiniti EX35

2009 Infiniti EX35 is pleasant and easy to drive. That’s either good or bad, depending on if you like that or not. Handling is great though – it has very little body roll for its size, and is very nimble through the turns. This is one of the very few small SUVs that you can take on a winding road at high speed and still have fun without worrying about tipping over. Suspension and ride is comfortable, and the 297 hp 3.5-liter V6 is the perfect engine for this vehicle. You always have plenty of power when you need it, and throttle response is very smooth. Fuel economy is average at 16/23 for the AWD model; I averaged 19.7 mpg under aggressive driving.

The EX35’s only transmission is a 5-speed automatic with manual shift mode, downshift rev matching, and Drive Sport mode. It’s a good transmission, but acts a bit like a CVT, which is strange. It holds revs depending on your driving style (that would be the Adaptive Shift Control,) and when it does shift, you don’t feel it. It’s a very refined system that makes the EX35 very smooth and drivable, without any sort of jerkiness or excitement in the shifting.

Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione

Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione
The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione designed and developed at the Alfa Romeo Style Centre, the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione is based on Maserati mechanics, but features unmistakeable Alfa Romeo styling. The '8C Competizione' name-plate is a reference to Alfa Romeo's rich motor-racing history. Making sure it handles as well as it looks, Alfa have drastically cut weight of the vehicle with the extensive use of carbon-fibre (the body and some other elements, like seat structure).Engine specifications on the prototype. The Engine Type of Alfa Romeo 8C is V8. The car having displacement of cu in (cc): 286 (4691). The Power of the car is bhp (kW) @ RPM: 450(336) / 7000 .The Torque is Nm @ RPM: 470 / 4750 having redline: 7500 rpm.

Originally unveiled as a concept car in 2004, Alfa have confirmed that the model will go into production in 2007 as a limited edition model, although that has yet to be confirmed. The planned debut of the production version is for the Paris show in late September so keep your eyes peeled and remember to check back for full production details shortly.

Designed with the intention of giving the venerable Italian performance car company a sports car designed to compete with Ferrari and Lamborghini, the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione is an impressive feat of automotive engineering, while also maintaining the classic Alfa looks and performance.

Under its hood is a 90-degree, cross-plane 4.7-liter V8 assembled by Ferrari that features wet sump lubrication and has 444 horsepower from the factory, and runs 0-60 in only 4.2 seconds. With styling harkening back to the days of the Alfa Romeo Duetto convertible, right down to the triangular grille, the 8C is a gorgeous car, worthy of all the design awards and acclaim it has received. Only 500 8C Competizione coupes were ever built, but what’s even rarer is the one police version available in Need for Speed Hot Pursuit.

Volkswagen Golf GTI W12 650 Concept (2007)

Volkswagen Golf GTI W12 650 Concept (2007)
The GTI W12-650 gives the appearance of having come directly from the racetrack. A Golf that could be the pace car for the 24 hour race at Le Mans.W12 cylinders, 650 PS (477 kW at 6,000 rpm). This transforms the GTI into a classic mid-engine sports car. A six-speed automatic transmission hammers the maximum torque of 750 Newton-meters (at 4,500 rpm) to the rear axle. It catapults the GTI to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds. The bi-turbo propels drivers who keep their foot to the gas pedal well beyond the 300 km/h barrier. The speedometer needle does not pause until it reaches 325 km/h. The Golf GTI W12-650 outpaces nearly all other cars of this world.Under the broad 1.88 meter (production: 1.76 meter) width and low 1.42 meter (production: 1.50 Meter) height of its body, engineers and designers have brought together automotive technologies not seen in this combination on any other car.The axles were "pushed" 70 millimeters further into the body.

Bentley Continental GTC

Bentley Continental GTC
The new Continental GTC is the show piece for Bentley design. The proportions of the Continental GTC are the epitome of the elegant and modern convertible. With a top speed of 195mph (312km/h), a sophisticated all-wheel drive system, state-of-the-art 12-cylinder engine, advanced air suspension  and ultra-stiff body structure, the Continental GTC displays all the poise, exhilarating performance  and dynamic handling of the Continental GT. In common with its stable mates, the interior of the new Continental GTC provides an unrivalled standard of craftsmanship, utilising natural wood veneers and leather hides of the finest quality, which are on full display when you lower the elegant, electro-hydraulically operated soft-top roof. The Continental GTC becomes the second convertible to grace the current Bentley range. It follows the recently announced return of the evocative Azure name for Bentley's Arnage-derived flagship four-seater convertible. While the Azure offers the ultimate glamour, sophistication and accommodation for adults in supreme comfort, the 2+2 Continental GTC is designed for customers looking to enjoy the phenomenal performance, style and excitement of the Continental GT with the additional benefits of classic open-top Bentley motoring. As on the entire Continental range, the GTC's design has also been influenced by the need to ensure perfect aerodynamic balance at speeds close to 200mph (320km/h). The convertible spent many hours in the wind tunnel to ensure a low drag coefficient and like the coupĂ© and four-door versions it utilises an underbody diffuser and specially sculpted rear bumper and bootlid edge to provide downforce and stability at high speed. The front seats have a new sculpted rear which produces an additional 30mm (1.2 inches) of knee-space in the rear. In the rear of the Continental GTC the centre console finishes with a veneered panel just behind the front armrests, therefore leaving the rear seats as an uninterrupted surface of leather hide, optimising the maximum space for the proportion of the car.

The construction and packaging of the roof are second to none. Its designers were keen that absolutely all working parts would be covered, which means that whether you are inside the car as the roof is in operation or watching from the outside, not one piece of the mechanism will be visible. The roof comes with a heated glass rear window and also an interior rooflamp in the headlining. It can be operated after pulling away from standstill at speeds up to 30km/h (20mph).

The Continental GTC is powered by Bentley's magnificent W12 twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre engine, which will propel the car to 60mph in 4.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 195mph (312km/h). This awe-inspiring piece of engineering is identical to the unit used in the coupé and four-door versions of the Continental and delivers phenomenal power (552bhp/411kW) as well as that legendary wave of torque (479lb ft/650Nm) from low revs that is the hallmark of every Bentley.

The 12-cylinder block has a 48-valve head with four camshafts that operate using continually variable valve-timing. Power is transmitted via a seven-bearing crankshaft to the car's six-speed automatic transmission. To ensure compliance stringent emissions regulations, the twin turbochargers are designed with a unique bypass valve that automatically sends exhaust gases to heat the catalytic converters when the car is started from cold. This valve then operates as the turbocharger wastegate at all other times.

The Borg-Warner turbochargers are also the ideal solution for producing the flat torque curve, ensuring that the driver has instantly available performance without a hint of turbo lag or having to shift down through the gears. That mighty torque curve is constant, with no drop-off from its maximum output of 479lb ft (650Nm) at just 1600 rev/min all the way up to 6000 rev/min.

Chrysler ecoVoyager

Chrysler ecoVoyager
The Chrysler ecoVoyager is a beautiful car.The ecology-minded zero emissions ecoVoyager uses a 45 kw fuel cell stack and 268 hp (200 kw) electric motor plus "Range-extended Electric Vehicle technology" to deliver the vehicle 300 miles before refueling. According to Chrysler, the ecoVoyager is able to travel the first 40 miles on the 16 kw lithium-ion battery pack alone before needing an assist from the fuel cell stack and 10,000 psi hydrogen tanks. The Chrysler ecoVoyager is no wuss, either as it can motivate from 0 - 60 mph less than 8 seconds with a top speed of 115 mph. Chrysler is also boasting that the ecoVoyager can run the quarter mile in just 12.9 seconds, but seeing is believing on this statistic, so we'll just have to wait and see if the automaker can put its money where its mouth is at.

Acura TL Type S 2007

With the updates for 2007, the style could more accurately be called "Bauhaus with attitude." Careful attention was paid to give the Type-S its own distinctive and even more aggressive look. Black chrome trim used around the car is an excellent example of the difference between the TL and the Type-S. The design features and changes include: Front Aggressive front fascia, a new larger grille opening, larger "A" mark and honeycomb mesh Redesigned bumper with satin chrome crossbar and horizontal trim New headlight clusters with daytime running lights (DRL) on innermost lens New auto-on and auto-off headlights (previously auto-off only) Fog lights repositioned from headlight cluster to lower valance Side New, split 5-spoke alloy wheels in Blade Silver finish New exterior mirrors with integrated turn signal lights Rear New rear bumper design Redesigned LED taillight clusters New italicized TL logo Type-S Exclusive Features Black chrome grille trim (satin chrome on TL) Redesigned bumper with black chrome crossbar and horizontal mesh trim Pronounced "splitter" lip on front valance 10-spoke alloy wheels in Dark Euro Silver Smoked rear side marker lights Wider, more aggressive side sill moldings Exclusive rear bumper with trunk lid spoiler diffuser Redesigned and unique lower valance Large diameter quad exhaust finishers Black chrome taillight trim New Type-S logo Interior The Acura tradition of interior prestige and tailored function continues with an elegant and sporty interior for the TL. The instruments and controls are arranged to create an intimate and functional driver's cockpit that offers a feeling of connection and control. With its higher belt line, the TL has a substantial look and feel. Fine interior materials such as leather trimmed seats and real metal trim combine with close attention to detail and finish to give the TL a tangible feeling of elegance. The large interior has stylish and highly supportive seating and generous front and rear headroom. The long TL standard feature list includes items like the first North American application of a standard Sound System with 6-disc CD, DVD-Audio, DTS(R) and Dolby(R) Pro Logic(R) II audio system that takes advantage of the latest technology to deliver sound resolution that's 500 times higher than conventional CD audio. XM(R) Satellite radio is also on the standard equipment list, as is a new MP3 player jack in the center armrest storage bin. The standard Acura HandsFreeLink(TM) system lets the driver dial a Bluetooth(TM)enabled mobile phone by voice, while a new, higher-resolution Multi-Information Display (MID) shows mobile phone data, tracks the car's maintenance needs, displays warnings and offers an array of driver preference settings. The available Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition has a large 8-inch display with a new, redesigned interface and AcuraLink(TM) satellite communication system with Real-Time Traffic. All TLs receive many updates to their interiors for the 2007 model year. Instrumentation, leather trim, accent trim and Active Noise Cancellation in the Type-S are all part of the driving experience of the 2007 TL. Additionally, there are distinct styling differences between the TL and Type-S models. In addition to red ambient lighting (instead of the blue on TL models) the Type-S receives carbon fiber trim in place of wood, paddle shifters on automatic-equipped models, more highly bolstered front seats, stainless steel sport pedals, contrast stitching on the door panels, seats and steering wheel, and an available 6-speed manual transmission. Styling The TL interior has a dynamic and distinctive look, yet upholds the longstanding Acura tradition of highly functional driving environments. Given the sharp handling agility and power built into the TL, its interior echoes a clear sporting message. Fine details and rich surface finishes make it clear that the TL has not strayed from its luxury roots. Sweeping aluminum-alloy accents with a new pattern for 2007 wrap around the doors, flow onto the instrument panel and dive down the center console. Wood patterned accents warm the interior in the TL, while Type-S models have carbon fiber-look accents and contrast stitching on the door panels, seats and steering wheel, which creates an edgy look. At night, the TL interior is transformed by new ambient lighting. The TL is bathed in a subtle blue light that coordinates with the instrumentation lighting, switchgear, and accent lighting, including the new footwell lighting. On the Type-S, red lighting replaces the blue, reinforcing its role as the enthusiast model. Driver-Oriented Cockpit The TL interior puts all important systems and controls within easy reach of the driver. The systems used most frequently-audio, cruise control, Acura HandsFreeLink(TM) and Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition(TM)-have satellite controls positioned on the new 3-spoke steering wheel, leather-wrapped on Type-S. The new instrumentation is backlit and easy to read, and the displays have an uncluttered look and intuitive operation. The Multi-Info Display has been redesigned with higher resolution for better readability. Helpful features make driving easier, like power rearview mirrors that can be set to automatically tilt-down when reverse is engaged to make parking simpler. With a driver's 8-way power seat and a tilt/telescoping steering column, it's easy to get comfortable in the TL. The one-touch moonroof switch is located in the overhead console. The Sequential SportShift selector features an intuitive interface for ease of use. The short-throw, close ratio 6-speed manual gearbox falls naturally to hand, and the shift knob and console-mounted parking brake lever are covered in a new textured leather. There is also a bottom-hinged throttle pedal with a more linear feel and natural motion. The Type-S features sporty-looking stainless steel pedals and a new carbon fiber-look automatic transmission shift knob in addition to the steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Safety The 2007 TL and TL Type-S were developed to help protect its occupants with a comprehensive array of safety technologies, high-grade materials and advanced construction techniques. Weight sensors are incorporated in the front passenger seat to determine the total weight on that seat. If it is less than 65 pounds (as if occupied by a small child or car seat) the front airbag will not deploy and a warning message appears on the instrument panel. For the driver, a position sensor in the seat determines how the airbag will be deployed in the event of a frontal collision. If the seat is close to its forwardmost position, the front airbag is designed to deploy in the dual-stage mode. Otherwise, the airbag deploys in either single or dual-stage mode based on the severity of the collision and seat belt use. The TL and TL Type-S also feature adjustable rear outboard head restraints, and standard side curtain airbags. These technologies, and the use of high-tensile steel in critical areas and computer-modeled crush zones, help to ensure a high level of passenger protection. The TL passed the toughest government safety tests with a 5-star frontal rating in addition to achieving a "GOOD" rating in all categories evaluated during the IIHS frontal offset collision. The TL safety equation even extends to pedestrians with structural elements designed to reduce the likelihood of serious injury in a collision. Powertrain Two engines are available for the 2007 TL. Under the hood of the TL is an all-aluminum 3.2-liter V-6 with 24 valves and Acura's VTEC(R) - Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control system. It delivers 258 horsepower and 233 lb-ft of torque. The TL Type-S is powered by a modified version of the 3.5-liter VTEC V-6 found in the Acura RL. With more displacement than the TL engine and a high-flow exhaust system, it boasts 286 horsepower and 256 lb-ft of torque. Both engines benefit from Acura's groundbreaking VTEC system. This patented technology provides an exceptionally flat torque curve, enhancing high-rpm horsepower without sacrificing low-end torque. The result is an engine with excellent responsiveness at all engine speeds. The standard transmission in the TL and TL Type-S is an all-new electronically controlled 5-speed automatic. Developed from the RL's 5-speed automatic, this transmission has more torque capacity that the one it replaces, but more compact. It also features Acura's Sequential SportShift system. Inspired by Formula One(R) racecars, Sequential SportShift gives the driver the flexibility of a self-shifting automatic or the control of a manual. The system has been reprogrammed this year for smoother operation and enhanced gear holding capabilities. In addition, the TL Type-S "rev matches" during manually selected downshifts. Available on Type-S models is a smooth-shifting 6-speed close-ratio manual transmission. Similar to the manual transmission on the 2006 TL, it features a re-designed bellhousing and improved clutch feel for smoother, more linear engagement. With Acura's unwavering commitment to the environment, both TL engines meet strict CARB LEV-II ULEV standards. In addition, cold-start emissions are improved thanks to the close-coupled catalytic converter system and under-floor catalyst. AC Schnitzer ACS3 3Series E46 Coupe

The success story of the current 3-series proceeds into the final chapters of the E46 model with the face lift variants of the 3-series coupe and Convertible.

The subtle but striking retouches further emphasise the sporting appearance and take the success story of the "3-series" into the next phase.
Accordingly, the AC Schnitzer designers have focused on the creation of a unique aerodynamic conversion which picks up the new styling cues and further emphasises the sporting lines. Both the Coupe and the Convertible are fitted with their own front spoiler and rear skirt. Both components will be available during the 3rd quarter of 2003.
All other aerodynamic components from the existing range - e.g. the side skirts, sports mirrors, rear roof spoiler, rear spoiler and wing - can also be fitted to the face lift model. The aerodynamic kit is completed with the motorsport-derived racing rear wing.
For vehicles with factory-fitted M-Technik bodystyling, already an AC Schnitzer front spoiler and corresponding rear skirt are available.

As well as the aerodynamic components, naturally all other AC Schnitzer special developments for the E46 range have also been adapted for the face lift models.

For the first time, BMW is offering a powerful 3.0l diesel engine in a 3-series Coupe. For this reason, it was natural for us to refine further our AC Schnitzer diesel performance upgrade. The result is a powerful 180 kW / 245 HP - with maximum torque of 470 Nm at 3660 rpm and a top speed of 249 km/h. For the sprint from 0 - 100 km/h, the diesel Coupe takes just 6.7 seconds.

For all 330i we also offer the AC Schnitzer supercharger performance upgrade, which achieves 217 kW / 295 HP - a maximum torque of 380 Nm at 4800 rpm and a top speed of 265 km/h. In this guise, for 0 - 100 km/h it takes just 5.6 seconds for the speedo needle to reach its goal.

Naturally the fully stainless steel rear silencer with chrome-plated tailpipe trim has been developed for the face lift models.

AC Schnitzer sports suspension in conjunction with corresponding wheel and tyre combinations up to maximum size 19", and spring kits for pure lowering, ensure safe and sporting handling with no loss of suitability for everyday use. We recommend high performance tyres by Continental and Michelin.

Last but not least we make your (inner) dreams come true: with complete carbon-fibre interiors in silver and anthracite, steering wheels and aluminium accessories, e.g. pedal sets, foot rests, gear knobs and a handbrake handle, the interior of these models lives up to the promise of the outside.

The range for the E46 series is completed with Car Infotainment components which can be perfectly integrated into these vehicles

The AC Schnitzer wheels program of course also contains the successful predecessors Type II and Type III light alloy and racing wheels, which are available in many different sizes up to the dimension 8,5J x 19" offset 36 with tyres 235/35 R 19 for the front and 9,0J x 19" offset 40/44 with tyres 265/30 R 19 on the rear. We recommend high performance tyres from Continental and Michelin.

Finally, AC Schnitzer offers tailor-made solutions in the field of traffic telematics which can be integrated optimally.

Monster Truck

Monster trucks are cool. They're automotive overkill of highest order: insanely powerful, ridiculously oversized 4WDs that both adults and kids alike dream about driving.

Mainly because they can crush cars.

But a monster bike?

Nope, it's not Christmas yet, but ex-stuntman Ray Baumann has dropped a huge gift onto the Melbourne Motor Show with the Monster Motorbike from hell.

And yes, it can crush cars - such as lurid yellow Holden Camiras.

The mind-bogglingly huge Monster Motorbike will be displayed at the 2008 Melbourne International Motor Show (MIMS), and is powered b a Detroit Diesel truck engine that outputs an ungodly amount of torque.

Ray Baumann's creation weighs about 10 times that of a normal family car at 13.6 tonnes, and measures close to 9 metres long and over 3 metres tall.

It's big, bad, and very loud.

The super-heavy 10-foot high motorbike can crush cars in first gear, though it has a 6-speed Allison automatic borrowed from a prime mover, just in case you need to clock up some highway kilometers.

It also uses a 2-speed Eaton differential from a road train to drive a massive chains on both sides of the spectacular rear wheel.

"We did stunt driving for quite a few years," says Baumann, "broke a few records and broke my back a few times, so this is a way of taking a bit more care.

"Now we crush things, which is definitely less risky than jumping them - we still do jump things, but not at the Melbourne Motor Show," added Baumann.

We're not sure if the Monster Motorbike is capable of popping wheelies and monos, but crushing Commodores is an impressive party trick.

Like the huge body and girder-like front swing-arms, the wheels on the Monster Motorbike are also larger than life.

Baumann got the huge wheels which tower over mere humans from Caterpillar. They normally cost around $30,000 each, but they appear to be second hand which would reduce the cost.

Normally used on Caterpillar's mining trucks prevalent in Western Australia, where they can cart around 300 tonnes of rubble, the wheels on the Monster Motorbike have custom rims finished in white, which adds greatly to the bike's aesthetic. As do the dripping blood decals.

The car crushing bike was built in Perth, and Ray Baumann has spent three years developing the vehicle which according to reports has already stunned spectators during its early demonstrations out west.

If you do plan on heading to the Melbourne Motor Show, be careful where you park your car...
